Full-Time Positions

  • Senate Business Office - Assistant Sergeant at Arms
    Join a small, professional team responsible for the safety and security of Michigan Senators, staff, and visitors inside the historic Capitol Complex. Your primary role focuses on public relations, critical incident preparedness and response, monitoring security camera systems from the Operations Center, and serving as the initial point of contact for visitors and providing them with directions and assistance. May provide security and protection at legislative events occurring outside the Capitol complex as needed. This is stable, meaningful law enforcement work in a professional, nonpartisan setting where your experience makes a direct impact.

Full-Time Positions

  • District 35 - Legislative Director
    Under the direction of the incoming District 35 Senator-Elect and Chief of Staff, the Legislative Director develops and implements legislative initiatives on behalf of the Senator-Elect and monitors other legislative developments. More specifically, the Legislative Director attends committees and session; assists with drafting legislation, amendments, and talking points; monitors bills throughout the legislative process; and testifies in legislative committees on behalf of the Senator-Elect. As necessary, the Legislative Director attends meetings and corresponds with officials, constituents, and special interest groups regarding legislation.
  • District 35 - Constituent Services Director
    Under the direction of the incoming District 35 Senator-Elect and Chief of Staff, the Constituent Services Director manages constituent casework for the Senator-Elect’s office, often serving as a liaison between constituents and state departments to resolve various issues for constituents. As necessary, the Constituent Services Director drafts newsletters and other correspondence; holds office hours in the Senator-Elect’s district; attends meetings; and answers incoming phone calls from constituents.
  • District 35 - Administrative Assistant
    Under the direction of the incoming District 35 Senator-Elect and Chief of Staff, the Administrative Assistant greets visitors, answers incoming phone calls, distributes mail, maintains office supplies, and assists with the scheduling and coordination of meetings and other events. The Administrative Assistant also drafts correspondence and assists with constituent casework and special projects, as necessary.
  • Senate Majority Staff - Digital Content Producer
    Under the direction of the Senate Majority Leader and supervised by the Communications Director, the Digital Content Producer assists with the functions of the digital media team. The Digital Content Producer plays a key role in capturing, producing, and distributing high-quality video content to support the Majority Caucus and member offices. This position ensures that Senate communications effectively engage the public through compelling visual storytelling, with a strong emphasis on videography, editing, and multimedia strategy.
  • Senate Majority Staff - Communications Specialist
    Under the direction of the Senate Majority Leader and supervised by the Majority Staff Director of Communications, the Communications Specialist is responsible for providing member offices with a full array of communications services including (but not limited to) writing press releases, media advisories, print and electronic newsletters, opinion columns, speeches, social media posts, constituent communications and other communication as requested; attending formal meetings related to member issues with a significant communications impact; and assisting in the creation, maintenance, and execution of a comprehensive communications plan.
  • Senate Majority Staff - Digital Specialist
    Under the direction of the Senate Majority Leader and supervised by the Majority Staff Director of Communications, the Digital Specialist is responsible for providing member offices with a full array of communications services including, but not limited to, writing social media posts, providing creative content for digital purposes, creating and placing digital ads, curating content from external sources, other communication as requested; attending formal meetings related to member issues with a significant communications impact; and assisting in the creation, maintenance, and execution of a strategic communications plan.
  • Senate Majority Staff - Digital Outreach Strategist
    Under the direction of the Senate Majority Leader and supervised by the Majority Staff Director of Communications, the Digital Outreach Strategist will play a critical role in communicating directly to members’ constituents by developing and executing outreach strategies for the Senate Democratic Caucus and member offices; crafting, placing, and managing cross-platform outreach campaigns; optimizing outreach campaigns to meet strategic goals and key objectives, attending formal meetings related to member issues with a significant communications impact; and assisting in the creation, maintenance, and execution of a strategic communications plan.
  • Senator Moss - Scheduler & Constituent Services Aide
    Under the direction of the Senate Member and Chief of Staff, the Scheduler and Constituent Services Aide greets visitors, answers incoming phone calls, distributes mail, and oversees the scheduling and coordination of meetings and other events. The Scheduler and Constituent Services Aide is also responsible for maintaining the Senate Member’s constituent services, including constituent casework, drafting correspondence, and assisting with special projects, as necessary.

Part-Time Positions

  • Senator Camilleri - Intern
    The individual will provide assistance to the Senator's Office ranging in the areas of legislation, communications, constituent affairs, and general office management. Some responsibilities will include preparing written correspondence, constituent casework, and administrative duties.

  • Senator Hoitenga - Legislative Director
    Under the direction of the Senate Member and Chief of Staff, the Legislative Director develops and helps implement legislative initiatives on behalf of the Senate Member and monitors other legislative developments. More specifically, the Legislative Director attends selected committees and sessions, as necessary; assists with drafting legislation, amendments, press releases, and talking points; and monitors bills throughout the legislative process. When needed, the Legislative Director attends meetings and corresponds with officials, constituents, and special interest groups regarding legislation. The Legislative Director will also serve as a liaison between constituents and state departments to resolve various issues for constituents.
  • Senator Runestad - Constituent Relations Aide
    Under the direction of the Senate Member and Chief of Staff, the Constituent Relations Aide manages constituent casework for the Senate Member’s office, often serving as a liaison between constituents and state departments to resolve various issues for constituents. As necessary, the Constituent Relations Aide drafts newsletters and other correspondence; provides research; attends meetings; and answers incoming phone calls from constituents.

Part-Time Positions

  • Senator Hauck - Intern
    The individual will provide assistance to the Senator and staff ranging in the areas of legislation, communications, constituent affairs, and general office management. Some responsibilities will include: monitoring legislation, preparing written correspondence, and conducting legislative research.
