The city of Hamtramck has had over 6,000 lead service lines and is working to replace them to comply with Michigan's lead and copper rules. Replacement of lead service lines represents one of the most significant drinking water public health priorities in Michigan and the city of Hamtramck in a recent evaluation found that they exceed the action level of 12 parts per billion (ppb) (They are evaluated at 13ppb).
