6. What is the purpose and how does the legislatively directed spending item provide a public benefit that is an appropriate use of taxpayer money?
KEYS Grace Academy provides pre-K-8 education via a public charter school authorized by Madison District Public Schools. KEYS Academy is a special multicultural school that coordinates and delivers many educational support services, including ESL, translators, graduation attainment, early childhood learning, and literacy services. KEYS Grace also provides a robust number of fully-integrated wrap-around services supporting whole families, including job training, food security, transportation, healthcare, and legal aid services. As a district with one of the largest Indian-American populations in the state, KEYS Grace Academy and the services they provide to my constituents serve as an invaluable resource for people to continue to live, work, and move to Michigan and the 9th district.
