- 6. What is the purpose and how does the legislatively directed spending item provide a public benefit that is an appropriate use of taxpayer money?
- The purpose of the funding is to purchase motorized roll up dock doors and a portable HVAC system so that the library can reopen the community hub at the Pontiac Public Library Pavillion. The community used the facility for food for free dinner for youth and low-cost refreshments for adults during Friday’s Live Jazz and outdoor Family Movie Nights. This facility was used to promote community gatherings and weekend pancake breakfast. In addition, non-profit organizations will again be able to host pancake breakfasts and other lunchtime meals to help their organizations support individuals and family members in need while supporting library programming. This will allow for year-round use. Total request is for $28,103.71 with $18,850.00 to be used for rolling vision doors and $9,253.71 to be used for portable HVAC.
